Facebook's new News Feed design may separate posts based on content

We know Facebook's showing off "a new look for News Feed" on Thursday, but the social network is tight-lipped on the specifics. Thankfully, the rumor mill is filling in some blanks.

TechCrunch's Josh Constine reports that "according to multiple sources both within and close to Facebook," the social network will be allowing you to control exactly what you see in the News Feed by splitting it up into various content-based feeds.

Yes, yes. Prepare the "Yo, dawg! We heard you like News Feed, so we put feeds into your News Feed so that you can feed while you news!"images to mock the arrangement now.

Jokes aside, let's not knock things too much before we try them. As Constine points out, the new News Feed design will allow you to sortcontent. Want toknow what your friends are listening to, which concerts they're attending, and so on? Hit up the music feed. Just browsing Facebook for the pretty pictures? Open the photos feed.

Reportedly, you'll be able to switch between the various feeds by clicking on buttons located below the search box on the Facebook website. Beyond music and photo feeds, "potential feeds that could launch include Links or ?news,? Videos, and Apps, but sources were unable to confirm these," Constine explains.

We'll know what's coming for sure on Thursday though. Facebook's event kicks off at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
