onForeclosure activity in the Fresno metropolitan area fell in 2012, according to a year-end report from RealtyTrac, a foreclosure listing service.
But Fresno still remains among the top 25 cities nationwide with the highest foreclosure rates.
Last year, one in every 38 houses in Fresno received a foreclosure filing. That?s a foreclosure rate of 2.63% which ranks Fresno at No. 24.
But the good news is Fresno saw nearly 30% fewer foreclosures in 2012 than 2011, the report said.
Four other California cities top the list. Stockton comes in first with a foreclosure rate of 3.98% where one in every 25 houses received a foreclosure notice.
Riverside is No. 2 with a 3.86% foreclosure rate where one in 26 houses received a notice. The foreclosure rates in Modesto and Vallejo were 3.82% and 3.73%, respectively.
